From Malta to Milan — Chasing Winter, Fashion, and the Future of Tech

We left Malta this morning and headed for Milan — and with flights at $30 one way, it felt like the easiest decision of the week. The temperature dropped a little as we arrived, but the energy of the city more than made up for it. There’s something special about Milan in December: the crisp air, the early hints of Christmas, and the unmistakable pulse of a global fashion capital preparing for its most magical season.

But this trip isn’t just about the Christmas lights.

Italian tech firms have been steadily increasing their presence on the global stage, sharpening their interest in major U.S. tech companies. One of the most fascinating players right now is Bending Spoons — a Milan-born powerhouse that has acquired MeetUp, Vimeo, and most recently, Eventbrite. Their strategy is bold, their growth is impressive, and their ability to modernize legacy platforms is something I’m eager to follow closely.

Over the next few days, I’m looking forward to meeting people, exploring the local tech landscape, and researching potential business partners. Milan has an incredible ecosystem — a great tech scene, three airports, seamless access, and a city layout that makes it easy to move, meet, and connect.

It’s the perfect place to blend work, discovery, and a little holiday spirit. Milan in winter… let’s see what you’ve got.

NEXT STOP... Rome
